americanadian THEORISTS

The Benefits of merging the two countries into one:

1. americanada would have the largest landmass of any country in the world::

Canada's total area, including the Canadian share of the Great Lakes, is 3,849,674 square miles

United States' total area is 3,679,192 square miles

Russia currently only has 6,592,800 square miles in land mass

This would give americanada a total land mass of 7,528,886 square miles, surpassing Russia to be the largest in the world!

2. United States is predominately the world superpower, holding dominance in many aspects of politics, economics, culture, and society.

However, Canada has a few limited entities which America does not. 1. Quality beer 2. Dominant Hockey 3. Lacrosse 4. Mounties.  Therefore, if America merged with Canada, it would dominate the world with Hockey and other sports as well.

3. With both countries together, americanada would be able to dominate the world militarily, intimidating any opposition in sight.

4.   One problem facing sports in the U.S. today is that sport teams from Canada are unable to compete and keep up with skyrocketing salaries.  Because the Canadian dollar is worth less than the American dollar, it takes more money for Canadian teams to pay for their players.  Already many Canadian teams in several sports are experiencing this great financial trouble.  For instance, in baseball, two Canadian teams are the Montreal Expos and the Toronto Blue Jays.  The Blue Jays have been able to compete fairly well by signing major free agents, however, they still are not one of the elite teams in salaries.  Besides, they are the exception to the rule.  The Montreal Expos, on the other hand, are one of the lowest teams in salaries throughout the league.  Now, it has been rumored that the Expos will soon be forced to leave Montreal and probably go to an united States City.  This would be tragic to see any Canadian franchise to leave the country and relocate in the United States.  The Expos have had great success in the past with stars such as Moises Alou, Randy Johnson, and others.  In fact, in the 1994 strike-shorten season, the Expos were tied for the best record in baseball.  Furthermore, like Montreal, Toronto is a classic franchise with historic success in the early nineties. In 1993 and 1994, the Toronto Blue Jays won back to back World Series with stars like Joe Carter, John Olerude, Ricky Henderson, Devon White, Roberto Alomar, and of course the great Paul Molitor. With the storied success and greatness, it would be a great disservice to both baseball and the country of Canada to see these teams go.

Also, in basketball, the Vancouver Grizzlies are having incredible trouble signing and keeping star rookies and other free agents to stay in Canada.  The team has already been sold and is again being threatened to be moved.  Meanwhile, The Toronto Raptors are faced with a difficult position of keeping superstar Vince Carter in Canada after this season. Remember that just last year the team lost another fine, upcoming star in Tracy McGrady. Therefore, the NBA too is having troubles with their Canadian franchises.

Finally, the NHL and the sport of hockey has been known for its success in sustaining success with Canadian teams.  However, more recently, the classic, storied team of the Montreal Canadians has been sold, and as always, it is a threat that they could be moved.  This would be a major blow to Hockey as Montreal has been known for its awesome hockey following and wild, passionate fans. Again, the differing currencies between the great nations of America and Canada are causing problems for sports in general.  Currently, the United States Dollar is worth 1.5 dollars in Canadian money.  This means that when an athlete's salary is $20 mill American dollars, the Canadian franchises need to spend $30 million to give the athlete the same salary.

Obviously, the solution to this problem would be . . . . . . . . . . . !!!!!!!!!

Under americanada, the American dollar would be the one and only currency, thus allowing all sports teams in different venues to compete in a growing financial and business world of sports.
